Allen Secretov is a distinguished attorney specializing in entertainment law, intellectual property, and complex business litigation. With extensive experience advocating for high-profile clients, including professional athletes, television and film actors, acclaimed musicians, renowned comedians, prominent authors, and influential businesses, Allen delivers strategic counsel and winning litigation results.

Regularly featured in top-tier media outlets like The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes, and the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Magazine, Allen is sought out for his insightful analysis of current entertainment law developments. He previously taught International Intellectual Property at UCLA School of Law, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader. Allen has been recognized for his achievements by being named as one of “Hollywood’s New Leaders” by Variety and being included in the Los Angeles and Francisco Daily Journal’s “40 Under 40.”

Before joining KHIKS, Allen practiced patent litigation at Arnold & Porter, served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Frances Rothschild of the California Court of Appeal, and was a research assistant to distinguished law professor Kimberlé Crenshaw.

With a proven record in resolving high-profile disputes and deep expertise across multiple industries, Allen is committed to delivering results-driven legal strategies tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Allen resides in Orange County, and serves as Chair-Elect of the Orange County Bar Association’s (OCBA) Entertainment, Sports, and Marketing Section.

  • Represents and counsels Hartbeat LLC, a multi-platform entertainment company founded by comedian and entrepreneur Kevin Hart, in labor and employment, complex contract, intellectual property, and business disputes.
  • Represents and counsels the producers of the award winning unscripted television programs Love is Blind, Married at First Sight, The Ultimatum, and Perfect Match in all aspects of litigation.
  • Represents various music industry entities and individuals, including Jackson Browne, Del Records, Inc., and Lumbre Music, Inc. concerning contracts, auditing, digital distribution, licensing, and intellectual property issues.
  • Represents national insurance brokerage USI in disputes regarding trade secrets and solicitation of clients and employees.
  • Represented, with Jonathan Steinsapir, the majority rightsholders and heirs of the legendary Motown songwriter Ron Miller in obtaining dismissal with prejudice of a federal lawsuit in 2023 challenging the validity of dozens of copyright termination notices filed by their clients.
  • Represented California Senator Susan Rubio and California Assemblyperson Blanca Rubio on an anti-SLAPP motion against former California Assemblyperson Roger Hernandez, who had sued the Rubio Sisters for defamation.
  • Represented Manny Pacquiao, defeating a motion for summary adjudication brought by his former boxing management, Paradigm Sports Management.
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Roland Corporation in a wide variety of intellectual property issues.
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, and Justin “Yves” Rothman in litigation with recording artist Lizzo over the authorship of the hit song “Truth Hurts.”
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, music publisher Third Side Music with respect to various infringements of the Sofi Tukker hit song “Best Friend.”
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Reach Music Publishing in the United States District Court against claims by William Drayton aka Flavor Flav for breach of contract and copyright infringement arising out of the exploitation of the publishing catalog of the groundbreaking hip hop group Public Enemy.
  • Represented, with Howard Weitzman, the Estate of Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber in civil litigation and intellectual property matters.
  • Represented, with Michael Kump, the Kardashian and Jenner Sisters in a variety of public and confidential matters.
  • Represented, with Michael Kump, the Management Group and its principals in a lawsuit brought by long-time client, actor Johnny Depp.
  • Represented Samsung in patent disputes relating to touchscreen technology.
  • Represented Hologic, Inc.—a medical technology company specializing in surgical and imaging devices—in various patent litigation matters pertaining to imaging technology and endometrial ablation devices.
  • Represented Boston Scientific—an S&P 500 medical device manufacturer—in a 12-year long patent dispute, resulting in a Federal Circuit decision clearing Boston Scientific of more than $200 million in royalties alleged by the plaintiff. Also represented Boston Scientific in patent infringement actions involving balloon catheters and coronary stents.
