Allen Secretov is an entertainment, intellectual property, and business litigation attorney. In this capacity, Allen has had the pleasure of advocating for professional athletes, television and movie actors, acclaimed musicians, legendary comedians, talented authors, and influential companies across numerous industries.

Regularly asked to speak on current events in entertainment law and legal education, Allen’s thoughts and analysis have been published and quoted by numerous legal and media outlets, including The Hollywood ReporterForbesBusiness Law News, and the American Bar Association’s The Young Lawyer Magazine. He also previously taught International Intellectual Property at UCLA School of Law.

Before joining KHIKS, Allen practiced patent litigation at Arnold & Porter, served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Frances Rothschild of the California Court of Appeal, and was a research assistant to distinguished law professor Kimberlé Crenshaw.

Representative Matters

  • Represents and counsels the producers of the award winning unscripted television programs Love is Blind, Married at First Sight, The Ultimatum, and Perfect Match in all aspects of litigation.
  • Represents various music industry entities and individuals, including Jackson Browne, Del Records, Inc., and Lumbre Music, Inc. concerning contracts, auditing, digital distribution, licensing, and intellectual property issues.
  • Represents national insurance brokerage USI in disputes regarding trade secrets and solicitation of clients and employees.
  • Represented, with Jonathan Steinsapir, the majority rightsholders and heirs of the legendary Motown songwriter Ron Miller in obtaining dismissal with prejudice of a federal lawsuit in 2023 challenging the validity of dozens of copyright termination notices filed by their clients.
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Roland Corporation in a wide variety of intellectual property issues.
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, and Justin “Yves” Rothman in litigation with recording artist Lizzo over the authorship of the hit song “Truth Hurts.”
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, music publisher Third Side Music with respect to various infringements of the Sofi Tukker hit song “Best Friend.”
  • Represented, with Larry Iser, Reach Music Publishing in the United States District Court against claims by William Drayton aka Flavor Flav for breach of contract and copyright infringement arising out of the exploitation of the publishing catalog of the groundbreaking hip hop group Public Enemy.
  • Represented, with Howard Weitzman, the Estate of Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber in civil litigation and intellectual property matters.
  • Represented, with Michael Kump, the Kardashian and Jenner Sisters in a variety of public and confidential matters.
  • Represented, with Michael Kump, the Management Group and its principals in a lawsuit brought by long-time client, actor Johnny Depp.
  • Represented Samsung in patent disputes relating to touchscreen technology.
  • Represented Hologic, Inc.—a medical technology company specializing in surgical and imaging devices—in various patent litigation matters pertaining to imaging technology and endometrial ablation devices.
  • Represented Boston Scientific—an S&P 500 medical device manufacturer—in a 12-year long patent dispute, resulting in a Federal Circuit decision clearing Boston Scientific of more than $200 million in royalties alleged by the plaintiff. Also represented Boston Scientific in patent infringement actions involving balloon catheters and coronary stents.
