The Estate of Michael Jackson, represented by Jonathan Steinsapir and the late Howard Weitzman, scored a major victory on Monday when a Los Angeles judge ruled that the late artist’s businesses cannot be sued by choreographer Wade Robson. Suann MacIsaac, Aaron Liskin, and Katherine Kleindienst were also members of the KHIKS team that contributed to this outstanding result. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark A. Young granted KHIKS’s request to dismiss the lawsuit, agreeing with the firm’s argument that Robson’s case against Jackson’s companies, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, had no merit such that no trial was necessary, and dismissed the lawsuit. The lawsuit was previously dismissed in 2017 on a motion brought by KHIKS after it was found that the statute of limitations had expired; the suit was revived solely because the California Legislature extended the statute of limitations in 2019. And yet another lawsuit filed by Robson directly against the estate was dismissed in 2015 in a now final judgment obtained by KHIKS.
“Wade Robson has spent the last eight years pursuing frivolous claims in different lawsuits against Michael Jackson’s estate and companies associated with it,” Jonathan said in a statement issued after the ruling. “Robson has taken nearly three dozen depositions and inspected and presented hundreds of thousands of documents trying to prove his claims, yet a Judge has once again ruled that Robson’s claims have no merit whatsoever, that no trial is necessary and that his latest case is dismissed.”
