Hollywood’s High-Powered Litigation Boutique Updates Name to Honor the Next Generation of Stars

SANTA MONICA, CA – July 5, 2023 Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP (“KWIKH”) is now Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP (“KHIKS”). The new name reaffirms the firm’s powerful roots and dynamic practice, and reflects the firm’s deep commitment to its future by adding Billboard “Top Music Lawyer” Jonathan Steinsapir to its name and, by moving Shawn Holley’s name into the second position, further honoring the outstanding contributions and legal prowess of the renowned THR “Power Lawyer.

KHIKS’ Managing Partner, Larry Iser, commented: “Dale, Mike and I are excited for this next phase in the evolution of our law firm, as we all continue to work collaboratively and successfully to resolve the most intriguing and challenging disputes in entertainment and business. Howard Weitzman had the utmost respect and admiration for Shawn and Jon – each of whom he mentored after hand-selecting them to join our team. Our name change pays tribute to these key contributors who have helped shape the firm over the past two decades.”

Jonathan Steinsapir represents the Estate of Michael Jackson in just about all of its intellectual property enforcement and litigation matters and in securing approvals in the probate courts for various ongoing business matters. Recent cases include pursuing claims for trademark infringement and dilution of Jackson’s famous “King of Pop” trademark; copyright claims against a major television network for misuse of Jackson’s music and other IP; claims of patent infringement involving holographic images of Michael Jackson; litigating with royalty participants, such as Quincy Jones, in the Estate’s extensive IP portfolio; and litigation over uniquely valuable property stolen from Jackson just after his death. He also represents numerous other entities and individuals in the music, film, television and other industries in a diverse range of intellectual property and business litigation matters.

Steinsapir said, “As the youngest name partner, I hope to help lead the firm into the future and to continue to uphold the values, culture, and highest quality of legal work that the other name partners, along with the late great Howard Weitzman, created. I could have never imagined seeing my name on this firm when I joined it 16 years ago. I am humbled.”

Shawn Holley, an esteemed attorney with a remarkable track record, has been a driving force at KHIKS since the firm’s inception in 2006. Her unparalleled expertise and client loyalty have earned her widespread acclaim and admiration within celebrity and legal circles. With more than sixty trials to her credit, Holley is the rare trial attorney who practices in the areas of both civil and criminal litigation. Her recent high-profile successes include wins on behalf of Evan Rachel Wood, Trevor Bauer, the Kardashian and Jenner families, Shia LaBeouf, and Lil’ Wayne. Holley is a Producer on Hulu’s “Reasonable Doubt,” which is loosely based on her legal career.

Holley noted, “Having been a member of the firm since its inception, I have witnessed KHIKS’ remarkable success over the past 17 years.” She added, “I am honored to move into second position in our firm name, an honor and responsibility I do not take lightly. I feel like my name is not replacing Howard’s; rather, he is passing me the baton.”
