TheWrap recently featured commentary from KHIKS partner Chad Fitzgerald in its coverage of Disney’s virtual “Investor Day” presentation, which unveiled the entertainment giant’s plans regarding content distribution for 2021. While many were expecting Disney to adopt a strategy similar to Warner Bros.’ recently announced HBO Max release plan, Disney presented a model that incorporates both streaming services and theatrical releases.
“It seems like they are not doing quite the all-out nuclear option of Warner Bros.,” Chad observed. However, considering public criticism of Warner Bros.’ move from top directors like Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve, he noted, “I think talent still has a reason to be unhappy, but less reasons than in the Warner situation.”
