KHIKS founding/managing partner Larry Iser was quoted in Eriq Gardner’s Hollywood Reporter article “HBO, Showtime Would Be Underdogs in a Legal Battle With Twitter.” The analysis piece discusses possible outcomes of potential litigation against Twitter as a result of thousands of users watching the recent Mayweather-Pacquaio fight through Twitter’s live-streaming app, Periscope, as opposed to paying for pay-per-view. According to the article, Twitter could face legal issues if it had persuaded users to live-stream the match through Periscope, but Larry doesn’t believe there has been much indication of that so far.
“I don’t think the law requires a company to develop a new technology to thwart misuse of its product,” Larry said.
