On Friday, July 7, 2023, following a six-day evidentiary hearing, Orange County Superior Court Judge Michael Leverson dismissed all sexual assault charges against Grant Robicheaux and Cerissa Riley. Judge Leverson found that the evidence related to the sexual assault charges lacked competence and was insufficient to bring Robicheaux or Riley to trial.

In 2018, Robicheaux and Riley were charged with sexually assaulting seven alleged victims. Those charges followed a well-publicized press conference where the then District Attorney of Orange County announced that the District Attorney had video evidence of Robicheaux and Riley assaulting as many as a thousand women.
Based on those statements, Robicheaux and Riley were depicted in the media as sexual predators preying on women in Newport Beach. Defense counsel has vigorously defended Robicheaux and Riley for the past five years, leading to the dismissal of sexual assault charges related to five alleged victims in 2021. The charges relating to the two remaining alleged victims were dismissed on Friday.
