KHIKS, Led by Jonathan Steinsapir, Prevails in Appeal of Trial Victory for the Estate of Michael Jackson

On August 21, 2024, the California Court of Appeal affirmed the trial court’s ruling approving of a joint venture deal between the Estate of Michael Jackson and a third party, valuing Michael Jackson’s music catalog at over $1.2 billion. When the deal was challenged by Jackson’s mother, the trial court held a three-day trial on the issue where the Executors were represented by KHIKS partners Jonathan Steinsapir and Katherine Kleindienst. The trial court ultimately held that the Estate’s Executors had “obtained the best deal for the Estate.”

In their opinion, the three-judge panel in California’s Second District Court of Appeal unanimously agreed with the trial court’s ruling and held that Jackson’s mother did not have a sufficient basis to oppose the deal.
