In a recent E! News article, Kate Mangels shared her perspective on what we can likely expect for reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley after an Atlanta federal jury found them guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud on June 7, 2022.
According to the article, the Chrisley Knows Best stars were federally indicted in August 2019 on 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Upon receiving the verdict, the Chrisleys’ attorney shared that he was “disappointed” and has plans to appeal–a feat that, according to Kate, will likely prove difficult considering the low percentage of appeals that are granted and the fact that there is an abundance of evidence against the Chrisleys.
“What their lawyers are probably doing now is trying to put together any mitigation material that they can present to the judge at the October hearing to convince the judge that the sentence should be on the low end,” Kate explained. “The prosecutor is obviously doing the opposite and going to ask for a higher sentence, but that’s ultimately up to the judge.”
The article also provides information on Kate’s career, noting substantial experience with individuals accused of white-collar offenses and how she helps prepare her clients in the event that they are faced with a prison sentence.
