Jonathan Steinsapir Speaks to Law360 on How Congress May Address Deepfakes in 2025

Jonathan Steinsapir recently spoke to Law360 about actions Congress may take to address deepfakes this year after making little progress in 2024, despite pledging to address the problem. A bipartisan bill called the NO FAKES Act, which has been introduced in both chambers of Congress, aims to standardize the varying state laws dealing with individuals’ right of publicity.

Jonathan tells Law360 that one of the main goals of policies combating deepfakes “is to create a more uniform way to deal with this issue in a way that’s more geared toward the specific problem.”

“At least one of the proposals I saw had that this would be descendable, meaning it would survive at least for some period after death, which is an issue that is important to some of my clients,” Jonathan concludes.
