Jon Steinsapir was recently quoted in Henry Meier’s Los Angeles Business Journal article “Video-Game Firm Has Score to Settle Over Mods.” In the article, Jon discusses why attorneys for game developers have been using a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) provision to go after hackers in court, as opposed to pursuing direct copyright infringement claims.
“Trying to apply the current precedent (regarding general copyright claims) to software is very difficult,” said Jon. “There’s just not a lot of case law on it.”
