Published annually, the Daily Journal‘s list is a selection of Top Verdicts throughout the year, highlighting those cases with outstanding results.
The Daily Journal cited Dale Kinsella’s success for his involvement in the unprecedented $20M settlement on behalf of Jaycee Dugard, which was filed against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) for alleged failure to adequately supervise Dugard’s captor, Phillip Garrido, during the 10 years Garrido was under the CDCR’s parole supervision. “Considering what she (Jaycee) had gone through and the challenges faced in the case, it was the most rewarding case of my legal career,” said Dale.
Michael Kump was recognized by the Daily Journal for his success in the recent trial in the McCourt marital dissolution case on behalf of Jamie McCourt (Los Angeles County Superior Court Case No. BD 514309), where the Honorable Scott M. Gordon ruled that the marital property agreement signed in 2004 is invalid and unenforceable. As a result, Jamie now presumptively holds an equal 50% interest in all of the assets acquired during the McCourts’ thirty-year marriage, including the Los Angeles Dodgers. This ground-breaking ruling was based, in part, upon forensic findings establishing that the McCourts signed two conflicting versions of the agreement. “They don’t even put that in movies because it is just so unbelievable,” Michael said. “We were all just stunned when the result of the forensic experts came back.”
