Ashlee Difuntorum recently spoke to students at Southern University Law Center as part of the Fall Speaker Series hosted by the school’s Business, Entrepreneurship, and Creatives Law Association (BECLA). The session covered steps for building a career in entertainment law and what Ashlee’s practice at KHIKS, which includes handling breach of contract, copyright and trademark infringement, false advertising claims for brands, celebrities, production companies, artists, and influencers, looks like day-to-day.
As Ashlee helped students understand the role of an entertainment lawyer, she shed light on the disputes that come up most frequently between actors, musicians, producers, studios, and labels, highlighted key contract protections and common misconceptions, and addressed emerging novel questions AI raises around likeness, voice, copyright and training data.
