Ashlee Difuntorum Authors Article on LGBTQ+ Allyship in the Workplace in the Los Angeles Daily Journal

Ashlee Difuntorum recently published an article entitled “How To Be An Effective LGBTQ+ Ally in the Workplace” in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. The piece offers legal professionals practical guidance on building a supportive work culture and stronger allyship with their LGBTQ+ colleagues.

“Effective allyship helps create conditions where people can show up fully, which benefits everyone,” Ashlee writes. She helps readers understand what effective allyship truly means by identifying common, overlooked missteps, as well as strategies to support LGBTQ+ colleagues more intentionally.

One suggestion Ashlee shares is using inclusive language. “One of the simplest and most impactful things you can do is be intentional about the language you use in emails, meetings, job postings and casual conversation,” Ashlee tells readers.

She continues to discuss important conversations such as those around coworkers coming out, shares advice for moving on from unintentional mistakes, and provides a plain-language breakdown of key terminology for a truly inclusive workplace.

Ashlee concludes the article with a simple message: “Effective allyship does not require perfection. It requires intention, consistency and a willingness to learn.”
