Allen Secretov was recently quoted by the Newsy Network in its story “What Does Hollywood Have To Fear With Deepfakes?”, which examines the growth of the deepfake phenomenon and the rights actors have over their image and likeness. As the practice of deepfakes becomes more common in Hollywood, questions have arisen about whether the actors must give consent for a company to use their deepfake image for profit.
“Right now, we are more than ever before being confronted with the reality of having to think about what protections need to be created, either through legislation or by court made law, to allow people to feel safe in putting their image out there on these platforms,” Allen explained.
